24-HOURS DIAGNOSTICS
One of the main differences between Nursing Homes and Ruby General Hospital is a 24-hrs. Diagnostic Service. This 24-hr facility at Ruby has saved many a life e.g., someone getting admitted at 1 a.m. in the morning at the critical care unit gets immediate attention and all diagnostics are performed instantly in-house so that the problem can be identified and the treatment procedure initiated before further deterioration takes place. Round-the-clock pharmacy services available at the Pathology, Imaging and Cardiology departments result in tremendous benefits for patients.

Clinical Pathology:
More than 2500 tests can be performed round-the-clock with the help of sophisticated instruments such as Auto Analyzer and Sodium Potassium Analyzer. The BACTEC 9050 (one of the two in Eastern India) speeds up blood culture & sensitivity tests and brings down the reporting time from the usual 72 - 96 hours to below 30 hours.
In March 2003, the pathology laboratory of Ruby achieved accreditation by NABL (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories). Accreditation by NABL has made the Pathology department of Ruby comparable to the best in the world. NABL is under the aegis of The Department of Science and Technology, Government of India and follows the Standards of international criteria for laboratory accreditation IEC 17025, which is adopted by world-class hospitals in US and Europe. Unlike most other pathology laboratories, any test result beyond normal range is always RECHECKED at NO ADDITIONAL COST to the patient.

Radiology & Imaging
The Radiology section provides facilities for investigations such as X-Ray, Ultrasound, Special X-Ray, Stiagrams, CT Scan, etc. These 24-hour services are available for both Indoor as well as Outdoor patients. The equipment include state-of -the -art X-Ray and portable X-Ray machines, USG equipment and CT scanner from world leaders in medical equipment like Siemens, GE and Philips etc. Report generation is fully computerized.

A unique aspect of Ruby's Pharmacy is the medicine stacking and inventory management system. It is probably the only Pharmacy in India where medicines are not visible at all but are arranged in protective cabinets.

Ergonomic placement of cabinets ensures that there is minimum of fatigue, and that cleanliness and asepsis is easier to maintain. ISO 9001 systems ensure that expired medicines never reach the patient by mistake. All medicines are stored in the correct environmental conditions so that the efficacy and potency of the drugs do not detoriate.
