Moving fast to set benchmarks

In what could become a major achievement in the field of patient care; Ruby
General Hospital has introduced Patient's Bill of Rights and will soon set
up a path-breaking breast treatment centre.
Patients in search of customized healthcare packages, healthcare solutions,
specialized attention, excellent treatment facilities at a reasonable cost
and deluxe cabins should head for Ruby General Hospital. Spurred on by the
motto of providing hospital-driven patient care rather than doctor-oriented,
the hospital is attracting many patients from Eastern India, Nepal, Bhutan,
and United Kingdom.
With the recent launch of "Patient's Bill of Rights" for
imparting better patient care, the hospital has set up a new trend in the
healthcare sector of eastern India. This bill introduces the same kind of
rights that are available to patients in the United States.
The patient can exercise the right to avail of updated and relevant
information on the kind of diagnosis and treatments offered to him or her.
They get to know the identity of medical professionals and nursing staff
involved in their treatment. The patient can make decisions about the plan
of care as also the financial implications of treatment choices, in so far
as they are known. The right to privacy in matters relating to consultation
and treatment is guaranteed. This will improve the communication between
doctors and hospital.
Ruby Hospital has solid credentials as it has emerged as one of the leading
hospitals in Eastern India.
It is one of the India's first NRI Doctor's Hospital and also the first to
get the ISO 9001:2000 accreditation in Eastern India. It has a leading team
of educated and experienced doctors. Its range of hospital services from
complicated paediatric Cardiac Surgery to Dialysis is immense and backed up
by the best nurses in Calcutta. It is one of very few hospitals, which
closely monitors patient satisfaction and medical outcomes.
The continued interaction between U.S. based NRI doctors and local doctors
have enhanced the treatment quality profoundly. It has thus become a major
referral center for complicated cases in Eastern India.
According to Dr. Kamal K. Dutta, Founder Chairman of Ruby Hospital, "We
are in the process of identifying the healthcare segments which has not yet
received enough attention in the North East. That is why we are in the
process of setting up the Breast Center. This will be the first of its kind
in Eastern India. It will have a multidisciplinary approach to treatment
with Breast Surgeons, Cancer Specialists, Plastic and Reconstructive
Surgeons. Patients will be comforted to know that there is one place they
can go for correct medical advice, emotional counselling and the latest
treatment choices. The center will have screening facilities also."
The Hospital is opening a new Eight bedded Emergency Room since it receives
a lot of traffic accident victims because of its location. A Nursing School
will start from January 2007.
There is an immense need for treatment of female patients suffering from
Stress Urinary Incontinence. This is involuntary leakage of urine while
sneezing, coughing, laughing and other normal activities. Nearly 40% of
women across the globe suffer from this condition. The disease is frequent
among middle-aged women but can affect women above 30 years also. Adds Dr.
Kamal K. Dutta, "Our hospital will soon be opening a Uro-Gynaecology
Centre that will be the first-of-a-kind in the east to offer treatment
facilities for this condition to women. The abnormality is caused owing to
weakened bladder muscles from childbirth and is not always age related. This
constant leakage of urine imprisons a woman in her home and the condition
can easily be treated with a 30 minutes operation."

Heart diseases are spreading at an alarming proportion in India and public
sensitization will go a long way to keep the heart disease at bay.
If you are one of those diabetic patients or victimized by hypertension,
better beware. Chances are that you are more vulnerable to coronary heart
diseases. Heart diseases are on rise in India and tend to affect most of the
younger generation.
Healthcare watchers always suggest to have regular heart check-ups for
early detection of the disease since most cardiac disorders can be prevented
with timely detection. So all those above 25 years of age who are stressed
out at the end of the day or have problems with weight, high cholesterol
level or chest discomfort, the best option is to drop in at a super
specialized hospital that has specially designed heart check-up packages at
an affordable price.
Ruby General Hospital, the premier U.S.A. based NRI doctor's hospital in
the east is well equipped with a cardiology department that prides in
providing cardiac surgeries and treatment facilities. They have an updated
digital cath lab backed by a dedicated team of cardiologists for performing
complex cardiac procedures like angiography and angioplasty. The hospital
has established its credentials as one of the premier cardiac care
institutes in the east. It has achieved a huge success rate of 99 per cent
survival even after performing complicated open-heart surgeries.
Many corporate patients prefer Ruby Hospital for Angioplasty & Cardiac
Surgery because of the quality of service, competitive rates and guaranteed
care. Says Dr. Kamal Kumar Dutta, Founder Chairman and Managing Director,
Ruby General Hospital, "Our hospital has been trying its best to
provide an honest, caring and economic cardiac care to patients. More number
of cardiac care players need to come up in Kolkata and it is highly
essential for patients to become aware about the preventive aspects of the
disease. Heart disease is a silent killer and World Heart Day should have a
greater importance for Indians. It is essential for us to combat diseases
like diabetes and hypertension and sensitize our people early in life. The
community need to be made aware about the ill effects of smoking and about
ways and means to lead a normal healthy life."
The hospital has unveiled a special cardiac care package for Rs 1,150 and
the offer is valid till September 30. There are other interesting plans to
host seminars that will emphasize on the treatment mode of cardiac disorders
on World Heart Day at the hospital.
