The hon’ble chief Minister Late Sri Jyoti Basu inaugurated Ruby General Hospital Pvt. Ltd. on 25th April 1995. Mother Teresa opened the Cardiac Unit on 28th October 1995.
Dr. Kamal K Dutta is the Chairman cum Managing Director of Ruby General Hospital. He graduated from R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata and went to the United States in 1976. He is a consultant gynecologist who is attached to the leading hospitals in New Jersey, USA. He was the Chairman of the dept. of Obstetrics & Gynecology at St. Mary’s Hospitals and also the Chairman at General Hospital Centre in New Jersey, USA.
The School of Nursing, Ruby General Hospital was established in the year 2009. The Nursing Institute is recognized by Indian Nursing Council (INC), West Bengal Nursing Council (WBNC) and The College of Nursing has been established in the year 2021.
This Nursing College currently was started by the Chairman and Managing Director of Ruby General Hospital, Dr. Kamal K Dutta, an NRI Doctor who lives in New Jersey with his wife Mrs. Ruby Dutta and his family. Ruby General Hospital is one of the oldest private hospitals in Eastern India with ISO 9001:2018 certified, NABH and NABL Accredited, and winner of Health Care Achievers Awards, 2014 in the category of ‘Best Multi Specialty Hospital, Kolkata’.
Ruby Hospital is a 316 bedded multi-specialty healthcare provider, situated on E M Bypass, Kolkata. The hospital enjoys an average occupancy of around 80% to 90%. Dr. Dutta took the initiative of starting his own Nursing School & College, which will fulfill this gap and help our state as well as the country in overcoming the problem of shortage of nursing personnel to some extent.
Modern nursing is dynamic, educative, therapeutic and a challenging process in meeting the health needs of individuals, society and community. It is not a mere profession but a way to help the people who are in need of healthcare.
