Introduction

Dr. Kamal K Dutta is the Chairman cum Managing Director of Ruby General Hospital. He graduated from R.G. Kar Medical College in Kolkata and went to the United States in 1976. He is a consultant gynecologist who is attached to the leading hospitals in New Jersey, USA. He was the chairman of the dept. of Obstetrics & Gynecology at St. Mary’s Hospitals and also the Chairman at General Hospital Centre in New Jersey, USA.

Ruby General Hospital is 316 bedded multi-specialty healthcare provider, situated at E M Bypass, Kolkata. The Hospital enjoys an average occupancy of around 80% to 90%. Dr. Dutta has taken the initiative of starting his own Nursing School & College, which will fulfill this gap and help our state as well as country in overcoming the problem of a shortage of nursing personnel to some extent.

The School of Nursing, Ruby General Hospital was established in the year 2009 and Ruby College of Nursing was established in the year 2021.The Ruby College of Nursing and School of Nursing, Ruby General Hospital, both are recognized by Indian Nursing Council (INC), West Bengal Nursing Council (WBNC) and The West Bengal University of Health Sciences(WBUHS).

The Nursing College was started by the Chairman and Managing Director of Ruby General Hospital, Dr. Kamal K Dutta, an NRI Doctor who lives in New Jersey with his wife Mrs. Ruby Dutta and his family. Ruby General Hospital is one of the oldest private hospitals in Eastern India with ISO 9001 : 2015 certified NABH Accredited, and has also been conferred with the prestigious ‘Healthcare Achievers Award’, in the category of Best Multispeciality Hospital, Kolkata.

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMME

GNM Nursing-
  • For GNM Nursing : As per West Bengal Nursing Council Rules & Indian Nursing Council.

  • Course : Diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery

  • Duration : 3 Years

B.Sc. Nursing-
  • For B. Sc. Nursing : As per West Bengal University of Health Sciences Rules and Indian Nursing Council.

  • Course : B.Sc. Nursing Programme

  • Duration : 4 years

Course Fees-
  • GNM Nursing : 5, 97,000/- only for 3 year course (Excluding Hostel Charges)

  • B.Sc. Nursing : 8, 00,000/- only for 4 year course (Excluding Hostel Charges)

  • * Hostel boarding is not compulsory

 

Eligibility For GNM Nursing Application:

  • Gender : Only Female

  • Age : The age of the Applicants must be at least 17 years as on 31.07.2024 i.e., the applicant should have been born on before 31.07.2007

  • Language : Candidates must be able to read, write and express in Bengali / or Nepali.

Minimum Educational Qualification:
  • CBSE Board : Health Care Science discipline.

  • The candidates passing West Bengal Higher Secondary (vocational) Examination,2023 onwards , who opted for “Health Care Science” under “Community Health Care” group must have passed in any two of the following combination of subjects.

    • Community Health Counselor (COHC)

    • Patient Care Assistant (PTCA)

    • Public Health & Firs Aid (PHFA)

  • The candidates who have passed West Bengal Higher Secondary (vocational) Examination, prior to 2023 with “Community Health Care” group under “Home Science” Discipline with combination of three vocational papers .

    • Community Nutrition

    • Hospital Management

    • Public Health & First Aid

  • Residence : Candidates must be a permanent resident of West Bengal uninterruptedly for at least last Ten years till 31.12.2023 and all candidates must be medically fit for the course.

 

Eligibility For B.Sc Nursing Application:

  • Gender : Only Female

  • Age : The Applicants age must be at least 17 years as on 31.07.2024 , i.e, the applicant should have been born on or before 31.07.2007.

  • Applicant must be a citizen of India.

Minimum Educational Qualification:
  • The applicant must have passed the “10+2” examination from any recognized Board or Council, subject with individual pass marks (in both Practical and theory separately )

    • Physics

    • Chemistry

    • Biology

    • English: Candidate must passed in English in “10+2” Examination.

  • Minimum aggregate for general and EWS candidates is 45%.

  • Minimum aggregate for SC / ST / OBC-A / OBC-B / PWD candidates is 40%.

  • Residence : Candidates must be a permanent resident of West Bengal uninterruptedly for at least last ten years till 31.12.2023 & and all candidates must be medically fit for the course.

 

Admission Criteria for GNM & B.Sc. Nursing Course:

  • GNM Nursing : Application for the GNM examination must be done online through ANM (R) & GNM 2024 Examination, www.wbjeeb.nic.in only.

  • B.Sc. Nursing : Application for the B.Sc. examination must be done online through www.wbjeeb.nic.in only. No printed application form is available.
